Dodge Challenger is the name given to three different generations of automobiles. These were manufactured by Chrysler Company. Dodge Silver Challenger was the first generation car in this series. It was launched in the year 1959. It was a pony car and was built using Chrysler E Platform. The body style of these cars comprised of 2-door convertible or 2-door hardtop. There were three transmission types: 3-speed manual, 4-speed manual and 3-speed automatic.

The models in this generation were: Dodge Challenger R/T coupe, Dodge Challenger convertible, Challenger Six, Challenger V8 and Challenger T/A. The first generation models were made available in many colors like Light Gold Metallic, Light Blue Metallic, Yellow Blaze and many more. The second generation spanned from 1978 to 1983. It comprised of subcompact cars with transmission of 5-speed and 3-speed manual. The third generation was launched in 2008 and is still running. There were major improvements in engine and transmission areas. The Dodge Challenger SRT-8 and V6 are some third generation examples.
